Orange and Red, Purple and Blue…

I spent a while just chilling beside Eighty Mile Beach. Funnily enough, I found it really difficult to leave this rather glorious spot, even though it is literally in the middle of nowhere.

During the day, this beach is all white sand and blue, blue water.

And in the evening, the colours of the sunsets from this pretty beach just defy description!

There was a bout of really hot weather while I was here but camp is directly behind the dunes, so there was a pleasant sea breeze here which tempered the 40 degree heat just a little bit. The humidity has noticeably increased, which is to be expected in the tropics.

This campground is located roughly half way along this awesomely long beach. When you look in either direction from here there is nothing as far as the eye can see, apart from sand and water…

This actually makes this a difficult beach to wander along – there is nothing to stop you walking!

Although that blue water looks extremely inviting in the heat, a cooling dip is sadly not recommended. Apparently there are lots of stingrays in the shallows to make swimming potentially unpleasant!

But in the end, I was out of food (and beer!!!), so I really had to find a supermarket. It is not a quick trip to the shops from here, with the nearest 250km away! I decided to aim for Broome, which is a good day’s drive from 80 Mile Beach.
