Meet Sako, a pure-bred Brittany Spaniel, who is very sweet (when she is not being a rat-bag). She came to live on the property when Jim, the property owner, came back from holidays and he brought the lively pup with him.
WARNING: Cuteness overload is highly likely from this point on – you have been warned…
Life is pretty good for this little bundle of energy on a big property, with lots of space to run, explore and plan mischief. But there are a lot of things to learn and remember, too. Every morning Jim takes her for a walk and when they made it back, Sako comes down to where I was camped, expecting her second walk of the morning!
Amazingly, even after two long walks, she still has enough energy leftover to run around, showing off and enjoying life.
Here are some photos of her enjoying herself on our walks…
As a pup, Sako was very cute!
And as she grows up, she is still very cute, but is becoming a very solid little dog with lots of energy to run around, having a ball!
ABOVE: I was trying to get her to look at the camera, so was calling her loudly. She isn’t in trouble, but she’s looking incredibly guilty anyway!
ABOVE: Sako just checking out the Chinese cooking oven used by the miners near the gold mine site around 130 years ago… I think she is looking a little peeved they didn’t leave her any food!
ABOVE: Attempting to catch pesky lizards, which are way too fast for her, but it is fun trying… love the flying ‘Dumbo’ ears…
ABOVE: Sometimes you are too hot and tired to stay standing up, so you just have to lay down and drink your fill in a nice, cool puddle…
If there’s water around, Sako happily finds it. She loves a cooling swim, but of course, she doesn’t understand the very real possibility of crocodiles. All you can do is discourage her from swimming in the creeks and let her to cool down in a cattle watering trough, which is at least safe!
ABOVE: How do you explain crocodiles to a hot little dog that just want a cooling swim in a handy, if somewhat green, pool?
ABOVE: “Rats! In trouble for having fun in the water again!! You can’t please these humans!!! What are these silly ‘croc’ things they keep going on about?”
The tractor had a flat, so it was left just off the driveway for a couple of days, while the wheel was removed and the tyre was repaired.
Poor Sako found it most disconcerting that the tractor sat there for a couple of days and it required much contemplation on her part whenever she passed this spot!
ABOVE: What the…???
She obviously doesn’t like things out of their place…
ABOVE: See, I CAN be good. Sometimes…
